About the Role

As a Healthcare Technician at Tamaki Health, you will play a vital role in supporting patients, families/whānau, and our healthcare team under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. Your contributions will ensure our clinics run smoothly and efficiently, allowing us to deliver the best possible care to our patients.

This is a fabulous opportunity to build a rewarding healthcare career!  We'll provide professional training in vaccinations, CPR, primary wound care, and other key healthcare services. This will equip you with valuable skills and knowledge to excel in this dynamic environment.

We offer a flexible work schedule: 

The ideal candidate should be adaptable and willing to work a mix of regular hours, weeknights, and occasional weekends. We can accommodate both part-time and full-time schedules based on your individual preferences and our business needs. 

  • 20 hours per week minimum required, full time preferred.
  • Available to work shifts at clinics from 8 AM to 8 PM, Monday through Sunday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Maintain patient confidentiality, assist with basic patient needs, and ensure a welcoming clinic environment.
  • Clinical Support: Perform tasks such as taking vital signs, conducting urine analyses, recording ECGs, and performing venepuncture.
  • Education & Information: Aid in patient education on lifestyle management, smoking cessation, and other health topics.
  • Clinic Operations: Organize medical supplies, assist with housekeeping duties, and ensure clean and well-stocked consultation areas.
  • Health & Safety: Follow health & safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Training & Development: Complete all required training and maintain competencies relevant to your role.

Qualifications

Don't worry if you don't have any of the following – we'll provide comprehensive training to get you up to speed! However, if you do possess any of these qualifications or skills, you'll have a head start in this role:

  • Clinical experience preferred (roles such as a HCA, phlebotomists, overseas trained clinicians and vaccinating health workers)
  • We encourage applications from candidates with diverse cultural backgrounds, including those with Māori and Pasifika heritage​.
  • Current CPR Certificate (Desirable)
  • Vaccinating Health Worker (Stage 1 & 2) (Desirable)
  • Competency in vital signs, ECG, venepuncture, primary wound care, urinalysis, and pregnancy testing. (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and MedTech Evolution (PMS) (Desirable)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive and caring attitude, with a high level of motivation and professionalism
  • Legal right to work in NZ and compliance with the Vulnerable Children Act 2014
