We're open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for General Practice and seven days a week from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm for Urgent Care. About the Position
This position is a fixed-term contract for 14 months, with a commitment of 37.5 hours per week. Our Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) play a vital role in our clinic's day-to-day operations. Reporting to the Charge Nurse, you'll ensure our nurses are supported in their daily tasks. You will receive training and supervision while supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient-Centred Care: Welcome and orient patients, maintain confidentiality, and support the clinical team by addressing patient health concerns.
- Triage Assistance: Accurately record vital signs and communicate findings to the RN or GP, promptly addressing urgent patient needs.
- Support Tasks: Assist with patient preparation, cleaning after sessions, and supporting nurses during consultations.
- Daily Clinic Operations: Restock supplies, maintain cleanliness, and ensure that the clinic runs smoothly.
- Evaluation & Development: Contribute to the continuous improvement of current HCA processes.
What We're Looking For
- Health Care Assistant Background: Previous experience in a healthcare or medical support role is essential.
- Organisational Skills: Managing conflicting priorities with strong attention to detail.
- MedTech Experience: Familiarity with MedTech 32 or MedTech Evolution (or similar systems) is advantageous.
- Cultural Competency: Commitment to health equity principles, understanding Māori tikanga and kawa, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Qualifications: NZQA Level 2 Health Care Assistant and CPR certificates are desirable.
